Plac Litewski (Lithuanian Square). The statue of the man on the horse is Józef Piłsudski nicknamed Dziadek ("Grandpa"). He was largely resposible for Poland regaining independence 123 years after Rozbiory Polski (the partition of poland by Russia, Prussia and Austria). He died of liver cancer in 1935 and was buried in the Royal Crypts at Kraków. His heart was buried in his mothers grave in Lithuania.
